What is Blogging?
A blog is a discussion or informational website published on the World Wide Web consisting of discrete, often informal diary-style text entries (“posts”). Posts are typically displayed in reverse chronological order, so that the most recent post appears first, at the top of the web page. Until 2009, blogs were usually the work of a single individual, occasionally of a small group, and often covered a single subject or topic. In the 2010s, “multi-author blogs” (MABs) have developed, with posts written by large numbers of authors and sometimes professionally edited. MABs from newspapers, other media outlets, universities, think tanks, advocacy groups, and similar institutions account for an increasing quantity of blog traffic. The rise of Twitter and other “microblogging” systems helps integrate MABs and single-author blogs into the news media. Blog can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.
Why would you want to take the time to blog?
Having your own blog in real estate is becoming more and more valuable every year. It is a great way for people to learn more about you, and your experience in the industry. People want to hire someone that has experience and knowledge. One of the biggest obstacles can be gaining that trust from a potential client. Giving them useful information for free while sharing your expertise can help with that. You may even want to take it a step further and create a local community page. Sharing information about your local community can help peak peoples interest in who you are. They want to make sure they are dealing with someone that knows the area inside and out. This can lead to building more relationships with people in the community leading to more business. Not only that but make you a better agent as well. Taking the time to write a blog can help you break down and understand things better since you are seeing it in a different perspective.
What is it going to take for me to start blogging?
It really isn’t as hard as some may think. If you were to even save 5-10 minutes a day for blogging, you will see the benefits over time. There are many sites that offer free blogging. Start off by just picking and choosing a few topics that are easy for you talk about and that would help your potential clients as well. Also make sure and start advertising it as soon as you get it started. Social media is a great source and link it to as many websites that you own.
